OGF has announced the current Board of Directors, which includes Silvana Muscella, Technical Co-ordinator of OGF-Europe, as one of the "At-Large Members".
OGF-Europe is actively supporting a Workshop dedicated to OGF specifications: BES, JSDL & GLUE. The Workhop, which takes place 2-4 September at CERN, the European Organisation for Nuclear Research, near Geneva in Switzerland, aims to evaluate end-to-end job submission using OGF specifications. The Workshop will highlight the missing pieces so that recommendations on how to address these issues can be made and the next steps taken.
Addressing the Challenges of a fast-changing IT Landscape is the focus of this month's eAnnouncement. Features include a snapshot of OGF-Europe's Industry Expert Group by Fabrizio Gagliardi, Microsoft Research. Sergio Andreozzi (INFN; OGF-Europe) takes a look at in-depth tutorials and explains why they play such a key role in fostering the implementation of specifications. The eAnnouncement showcases OGF-Europe's achievements in the last six months with an eye to the future for upcoming international events: OGF24, 15-19 September 2008, Singapore and OGF25, which takes place in Catania, Italy in early March 2009.
OGF24 will provide an excellent opportunity to engage with the Applied Distributed Computing communities in the Asia/Pacific region. OGF24 is hosted by the Singapore Grid Forum and co-located with GridAsia 2008. The deadline for Advanced Registration & Session Proposals is 8 August 2008. Participants are advised to book accommodation as soon as possible.

This Week's issue of iSGTW brings an in-depth article on why standards are so important. Standardisation is inextricably linked to interoperability, which facilitates and fosters co-operation, competition on a level-playing field and long-term sustainability. Community consensus on standards enables smoother technology transfer and ease of use.
The Feature, Grid computing walks the standard line: thinking inside the box, outlines the current landscape; challenges moving forward and brings community perspectives.
