OGF

OGF is an open community committed to driving the rapid evolution and adoption of applied distributed computing. Applied Distributed Computing is critical to developing new, innovative and scalable applications and infrastructures that are essential to productivity in the enterprise and within the science community. OGF accomplishes its work through open forums that build the community, explore trends, share best practices and consolidate these best practices into standards.

OGF is led by three organisational members: Hiro Kishimoto, Fujitsu; Steven Newhouse, Microsoft; and Satoshi Sekiguchi, AIST and seven "At-large Members", referred to as the Board of Directors.

OGF & Enterprise

Ian Osborne, Intellect (UK), is OGF's recently appointed Enterprise VP. Download Ian's presentation at ICT2008, 25-27 November 2008, Lyon, France, during the Session on ICT Standardisation, "The Role of Open Standards in Supporting Research", which highlights why standards are of strategic importance for innovation in scientific research and market creation and development. The talk also outlines OGF standards case studies, such as the HPC Basic Profile, and related use cases, along with an overview of compute related standards & data architecture.
