OGF-Europe Who’s Who
The OGF-Europe Consortium provides high-level expertise, knowledge and skills to demonstrate why Grid technology brings competitive edge to EU organisations, bringing leadership from Europe in the drive towards standardisation.
Barcelona Supercomputing Center (BSC), Spain. BSC is a supercomputing services & research centre with expertise in Deep Computing, Computer Architecture, Life Sciences & Earth Sciences. BSC is the financial co-ordinator of OGF-Europe and hosts of OGF23, 2-6 June 2008, Barcelona. BSC leads the multi-channel promotion of OGF-Europe's objectives and supports links to enterprise to increase OGF global membership and standardization efforts.
OGF.eeig - European Chapter of the Open Grid Forum, UK. EEIG (European Economic Interest Group) forms part of OGF Board of Directors. EEIG is highly skilled in developing communication platforms, delivering IT development strategies and promoting Grid adoption across diverse verticals. OGF.eeig is the technical co-ordination and leads Dissemination & International Community Outreach. OGF.eeig leads the delivery of international OGF events in Europe and the overall OGF-Europe communication strategy, including press & media relations.
ATOS Origin, Spain. ATOS is founding member of the EU Technology Platform NESSI (Networked European Software & Services Initiative) and co-ordinator of BEinGRID (Business Experiments in Grid) - real Grid pilot applications addressing concrete business cases and related business models across different verticals. ATOS is supporting EU surveys on Grid adoption requirements, the drive towards standardisation & networking activities.
INRIA, France. INRIA is the national institute for research in computer science & control, dedicated to fundamental and applied research in ICST (Information & Communication Science & Technology), making it a key player in ICST development in France. In OGF-Europe, INRIA liaises with a number of EC-funded projects, the national research community, industrial players, and the Infrastructure AREA of OGF. Additionally, INRIA is involved in international outreach activities, and the Expert & Student Scholar Programme.
Intellect, UK. The combination of industrial membership of Intellect & broader user, academic & supply chain side membership of Intellect managed Grid Computing Now! Knowledge Transfer Network (KTN) gives excellent access to a cross-section of the Community. With excellent links across EU and a strategy to bridge the gaps between the business and research communities, Intellect leads the series of Community Outreach Seminars highlighting the business value of Grids to support increased adoption.
Istituto Nazionale di Fisica Nucelare (INFN), Italy. INFN is a government-supported research organization promoting, co-ordinating, and funding research on Nuclear & High Energy Physics. INFN has considerable experience in high performance and distributed computing. In OGF-Europe, INFN are playing a key role in supporting Community Outreach Seminars through in-depth tutorials. These tutorial events are delivered by experts with proven experience and dedicated to educating managers on Grid uptake & training technical and support staff.
Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität München (LMU), Germany. The research group of Prof. Dr. Dieter Kranzlmüller at the Department of Computer Science of the Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität München (LMU) is part of the Munich Network Management Team (MNM Team), a group of researchers at LMU, the Munich University of Technology (TUM) and the Leibniz Supercomputing Centre (LRZ). The MNM Team is one of the first groups in Germany to have addressed the research area of IT management. In OGF-Europe, LMU leads the Mobilisation of European e-Infrastructure Communities to increase as part of the drive towards standardisation efforts and the pervasive adoption of Grid.
Oxford eResearch Centre, Oxford University, UK. One of theUK's eScience core programme regional centres, the Oxford eResearch Centre enables the exploration of new research areas in Science, the Humanities and Social Sciences through the application of innovative computational & information technologies. The Oxford eResearch Centre brings considerable expertise in industry-research collaborations, assisting in the authorship & development of global standards roadmaps with a focus on EU priorities.
Poznań Supercomputing & Networking Center (PSNC), Poland. PSNC develop middleware, tools & methods for Grid computing, as well as resource management for Grids, Grid applications & Grid application toolkits, mobile user Grid services, security & policy. PSNC lead the Expert & Student Scholar Programme supporting EU engagement with OGF activities. Selected students are offered the opportunity to play an active role in events with Technical Experts providing longer-term support through event participation and interaction with the Grid community.
Telefónica Investigación y Desarrollo Sociedad Anónima Unipersonal, Spain. Telefónica I & D bases its work on the use of the most advanced & competitive concepts & technologies & their adoption in systems & products. Telefónica I & D have played an active role in fostering the adoption of new technologies in relevant standardisation bodies. Telefónica I & D supports OGF-Europe's EU community mobilisation mission and is facilitating links to industry, NESSI, and relevant EC-funded projects focusing on Grid.
